The Judería de Córdoba (Jewish Quarter) concentrates a highly recognisable part of the historic centre, with narrow streets, squares and corners linked to the Sephardic heritage of the city. On this visit you explore this urban network with an official guide and follow a route focused on some of the most representative points of the quarter, including the Sinagoga de Córdoba, one of the spaces most closely connected to local Jewish history.

Along the route you pass through areas such as Calle Judíos, Plaza de Tiberíades, the surroundings of the Zoco Municipal or Plaza del Cardenal Salazar, on a visit designed to bring together the historic quarter and one of its best-known sites in a single booking. DETAILED ROUTE THROUGH THE JUDERÍA AND THE SYNAGOGUE

The visit begins beside the Puerta del Perdón of the Mezquita-Catedral, opposite Sabor a España, and enters straight into the Judería to explore its layout of narrow streets, small squares and alleyways. In this first section you see the Calleja de la Hoguera, an alley closely linked to the Islamic urbanism of the quarter, formed by the joining of two azucaques and with a small inner courtyard that may have functioned as the patio of an old house.

Afterwards, the route passes through Plaza del Cardenal Salazar, where the former headquarters of the hospital of Cardinal Salazar stands, now the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, and the Capilla de San Bartolomé, a Mudéjar piece from the 14th and 15th centuries. In this part of the route you see its façade with a triple-arched portico and locate one of the most recognisable points of this area of the Judería.

The visit then advances towards the surroundings of the Zoco Municipal, located in a Mudéjar-style building erected in the area of the old souk and alcaicería of the Muslim city. Today it maintains its connection to Cordoban craftsmanship and forms part of one of the busiest stretches of the historic quarter.

The route continues through Plaza de Tiberíades, very close to the Synagogue, where the monument to Maimonides stands. The statue represents him seated upon his tomb, now located in Tiberias, and the stop serves to place one of the names most closely linked to Jewish Córdoba. From there, the route continues along Calle Judíos, one of the most recognisable streets in the quarter and a natural axis before entering the Synagogue.

One of the central points of the visit is the Sinagoga de Córdoba, built between 1314 and 1315 on Calle Judíos. Access is through a courtyard that leads to a small vestibule. To the right begins the staircase that ascends to the gallery or women's section, and ahead opens the main hall, with a quadrangular floor plan, Mudéjar atauriques, plasterwork and three decorated arches on the gallery wall. It is the only synagogue preserved in Andalusia and one of the best-preserved medieval ones in Spain.

The visit ends in the Calleja de la Luna, after a route of approximately 1 hour through some of the most representative points of the Judería de Córdoba, with the Synagogue integrated within the itinerary.
