Itinerary for the excursion to Córdoba from Seville

   The first stop is the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, the great monument of the former Umayyad Caliphate and one of the city's most distinctive buildings. Inside, you'll explore the famous forest of more than 850 marble and granite columns, traversed by the red and white bicoloured arches that repeat throughout the prayer hall. The itinerary helps you understand how the building grew from the original mosque of Abd al-Rahman I in the 8th century through to the extensions of subsequent centuries.

   One of the central highlights of the visit is the Mihrab, the richest area of the Islamic complex, decorated with golden tessellated mosaics brought from Byzantium and covered by a dome carved in stone. In the centre of the building appears the cathedral crossing, erected in the 16th century following the Christianisation of the temple, with the Choir Stalls and the High Altar as the main elements from the Christian period.

   Afterwards, the tour continues through the Jewish Quarter of Córdoba, the neighbourhood where the Jewish community lived during the Middle Ages. The route enters via the Calleja de la Hoguera and passes through the Zoco, the old artisan market of the quarter, and the Capilla de San Bartolomé, a small 15th-century construction with Mudéjar plasterwork on its walls and vaults. You'll also visit the square where the sculpture of Maimonides stands, the physician, philosopher and theologian born in Córdoba in the 12th century.

   Within the Jewish Quarter you'll access the Synagogue of Córdoba, built in 1315 and one of three medieval synagogues preserved in Spain. Inside, the prayer hall remains, decorated with Hebrew inscriptions and Mudéjar motifs that demonstrate the importance of the Sephardic community in medieval Córdoba.

   The final part of the visit takes place at the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a palatial fortress linked to the Castilian monarchy. Its rooms preserve large Roman mosaics found beneath the building and a 3rd-century early Christian sarcophagus. The tour ends in its gardens, arranged in terraces with ponds, fountains and cypress trees, one of the most recognisable areas of the complex.
